At Carter Express, we take immense pride in the professionalism and compassion our drivers bring to the road every day. Today, we’re celebrating one of our own, Eric “Zack” Rogers, who has been named a TCA Highway Angel for his heroic actions on August 21, 2024.

While driving on Highway 72 near Slayden, Mississippi, Zack witnessed a motorist lose control of her vehicle and crash. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, he stopped immediately to assist. Upon finding the elderly driver convulsing and unable to speak, Zack not only called 911 but stayed with her, offering comfort and prayer until help arrived. His selfless actions reflect the values we hold dear at Carter Express — treating others with dignity and compassion in moments of need.

When asked about his actions, Zack humbly stated, “I don’t feel like I did anything special. I treated her like I would have wanted someone to treat my grandmother.” This sentiment perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the Highway Angel recognition, a program that has honored nearly 1,400 drivers since its inception in 1997 for acts of kindness, courtesy, and bravery on the road.

Zack’s story reminds us of the critical role truck drivers play in ensuring not just the safe delivery of goods but also the well-being of those they encounter along the way. His quick thinking and compassion are a testament to the extraordinary character of professional drivers.
