Carter was asked to provide a crossdock facility to support one of the large Japanese OEM's manufacturing division. This project involved the movement and management of freight for approximately 80 inbound and 80 outbound routes per day. This was accomplished by building a 40,000 SF addition to our current facility in Andersonville, TN. This added an additional 50 dock doors and approximately 100 trailer parking spaces, as well as 26 new team members, including clerks, dock workers, yard drivers, and management.

Carter was contracted to manage all yard and last mile transportation moves for a large Japanese OEMin the southeast. The project includes both the plant location and the on-site warehouse. The warehouse consists of 2 million sq. ft. , 222 dock height doors, and a trailer lot that holds up to 500 trailers. Transportation moves consist of yard to door trailer placement and around 400 daily shuttles to the assembly plant.

Carter Logistics managed disruptions caused by Hurricane Helene through strategic planning, flexibility, and collaboration, ensuring uninterrupted operations for their clients. Key actions included rerouting 25 critical routes, deploying 13 additional drivers, and implementing new route points in Wytheville, VA, and Chattanooga, TN. Despite the logistical challenges, Carter Logistics successfully ensured that all automotive customer operations and production were unaffected.

In March of 2020,one of Carters Shared Milkrun customers, a large Tier 1 supplier, was forced to drastically reduce their volumes due to shutdowns caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Carters Continuous Improvement Team took a proactive approach to pivot the suppliers logistics strategies and reduce their overall transportation costs.

In 2014, a Tier 1 Supplier and global leader in the automotive industry, was operating their inbound material collections with two different logistics providers across their plant locations. This led to spiraling costs caused by inefficiencies and lack of visibility of inventories. dock congestion. poor carrier communication and difficulty in freight oversight.
