Anderson, Indiana (June 8, 2021) – On June 12, 2021, Carter’s very own Don Talley, Muncie, IN, will be recognized as the 2021 Citizen Driver of the Year presented by Travel Centers of America. The ceremony will take place at the TA/Petro Travel Center in Gaston, IN, and this location will be dedicated in Don’s name. Don was one of two selected for this distinguished award and the first driver to receive this recognition in Indiana. In addition, Dan “Dusty” Porter, Ontario, Canada, is also a 2021 recipient.

“We are incredibly proud of Don Talley and his significant accomplishments both behind the wheel and beyond. He is a great driver and employee, but more importantly, a great person that will leave a lasting impact on our company, this industry, and his community.” Jessica Warnke, President & CEO of Carter Express, Inc

As the recipient of this award, Don will receive a $2,500.00 check to donate to a charitable organization of his choosing, along with having the TA/Petro Travel Center dedicated in his name. Don chose to donate to the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund.

“I believe in helping drivers out when they fall on hard times. I have had injuries that have kept me from driving behind the wheel. I want professional drivers to know that this resource is available when they are in financial distress due to a health concern keeping them from driving.” Don Talley, 2021 Citizen Driver Award Honoree.

Carter Express is donating $5,000.00 to St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund, making the total donation $7,500.00.
