Thank a Truck Driver This Holiday Season

For most people, the holiday season means taking time off work, holiday parties, and spending time with friends and family. For truckers, however, this is their busiest couple of months. For most people, the holiday season means taking time off work, holiday parties, and spending time with friends and family. For truckers, however, this is their busiest couple of months. While other people are enjoying time at home, these hardworking truck drivers are moving goods around the country to make it truly the “most wonderful time of the year.”

Just think about it. Truck drivers are the ones who deliver everything from the food you’ll enjoy this season to all your favorite holiday decorations to that beautiful Christmas tree you’ll set up in your living room. The Minnesota Trucking Association did a study and found that it takes more than 83,000 truckloads to put Thanksgiving dinner on your table. That includes around 46 million turkeys, 80 million pounds of cranberries, and 2.4 billion pounds of sweet potatoes. And this is only one-holiday meal out of several you might enjoy this holiday season.

What else will be delivered by a truck this time of year? There are also the pounds of sugar, flour, and butter that go into making your favorite holiday desserts. All the gifts you order online or buy in-store will eventually make their way under your Christmas tree, as well as those you’ll mail out to friends and family around the world. ShipMatrix found that in the 2020 holiday season FedEx, UPS, USPS, Amazon, and other regional carriers delivered more than 3 billion parcels. The National Christmas Tree Association estimates that 25-30 million real Christmas trees and over 20 million artificial trees are sold every year. All of these things would be a lot more difficult to get to your home without truckers. So if you come across a truck driver this holiday season, be sure to thank them for their hard work and time on the road. Without drivers like our amazing Carter Express pros, there would likely be a lot less holiday cheer to go around. Here’s to a wonderful holiday season ahead!
