Myron “Duke” Paugh buys Quickway GMC in Anderson and changes the name to Duke’s GMC Trucks



1982



Carter Express founded with three trucks moving parts from suppliers to GM assembly plants



1984



John Paugh, current President & CEO, partners with Carter Express owner Will Carter



1992



John Paugh becomes sole owner and President

of Carter Express



1998



Carter develops the Shared Milkrun System with customers Arvin Meritor & Tenneco Exhaust Systems



2000



Carter Logistics founded



Carter moves operations into new Anderson headquarters & crossdock



2006



Carter opens operations in Laredo, TX in leased crossdock



Carter opens warehouse facility in Anderson, IN



2009



Hitachi Transport Systems, Ltd. purchases majority share of Carter Express & Carter Logistics



Carter opens three new crossdock facilities in Romulus, MI, Dayton, OH and Knoxville, TN



2012



Carter opens brand new 140,000 sq. ft. facility

in Dayton, OH



2013



Carter purchases Hitachi Sistema de Transporte (TSX) in Mexico to support Mexico operations



2014



Carter establishes the first Shared Milkrun route

with two OEMs



2015



Carter opens brand new 100,000 sq. ft. facility

in Laredo, TX



2016



Carter starts yard management operations for OEM in Canton, MS



Carter starts new fleet operations for OEM in Hebron, KY



2017



Carter expands Canton, MS yard management service

You may have noticed the name “Carter Logistics” in a few places on our website.  Carter Logistics is the sister company of Carter Express that offers exceptional supply chain management to companies across North America and abroad.  Carter Logistics specializes in the Shared Milk Run. Ninety percent of their customers are automotive with no-touch freight.
